TGSA 2008 / 2009 Competition Season Begins with
Three Grom Roundup Events

The Texas Gulf Surfing Association (TGSA) is kicking of the new 2008/2009 competition season with three Grom Roundups, which are completely free events for surfers aged 13 years and under (age determined as of January 1, 2009). These small competitions are designed to be fun events for the kids while introducing them to surfing competitions. Every grom will receive a free t-shirt, lunch and either a medal or trophy.

The Grom Roundups, as with all TGSA surfing contests, are subject to postponement if surf conditions or weather conditions are too poor. The ON/Postpone decision will be made on the Friday before the competition and will be posted on the TGSA web-site, www.tgsa.org.

There are three competition divisions in each Grom Roundup: Groms (13 and Under), Mini-Groms (11 and Under) and Micro-Groms (8 and Under). Boards of any size may be used in these divisions for the Grom Roundups (shortboards are required for the Groms and Mini-Groms divisions during the District, Open and TSSC competitions). The Micro-Grom division allows adults to assist the competitors by helping them get out in the lineup and pushing them into waves.

Space in each Grom Roundup is limited to 36 so register ASAP by sending an email to info@tgsa.org stating the child’s name that is being entered, his or her date of birth and which of the three Grom Roundups is/are being entered. Each Grom Roundup will begin at 7:30 am and end in the early afternoon.
